For books, I really enjoyed "Why Stocks Go Up and Down" (less of a "how to" and more of an introduction to the terms and concepts in investing) I think the best resource on the mechanics is NYU Professor Aswath Damodaran (here's his webpage: https://pages.stern.nyu.edu/~adamodar/New_Home_Page/home.htm) He has a lot of NYU classes on valuation etc. that are all online.
